Originating from South America, the name Pinto is the Spanish word for "painted." Pinto beans are medium sized oval, pale pink in colour with red-brown streaks or splotches. When cooked, the red-brown markings disappear and they become a soft pink colour and have a creamy texture. They are high in protein, are highly nutritious and are an excellent source of fibre, folate, potassium, iron and magnesium. Produced in Canada using Canadian grown beans.
